Frequently Asked Questions

Giclée Prints

  • A giclée print is an archival-quality fine art print that is created to look as close to an original as possible.

They are printed on textured watercolour paper with high-quality inks and are carefully colour calibrated.

  • Giclee prints are more fragile than regular prints and are not varnished. They are, therefore, susceptible to smudging or fading if they come in contact with moisture or prolonged sunlight.

While unframed, store print in the packaging it came in and keep it away from direct sunlight and any moisture.

The oils from your skin can damage the paper and ink over time, so only handle your print with clean, dry hands. Optionally, you can wear cotton gloves for handling the print to avoid any oils transferring to the paper.

I recommend that you frame your print. Frame it behind UV-protectant glass and hang out of direct sunlight for optimal longevity. Always use acid-free materials when framing or storing.

If necessary, you can use a dry, soft cloth or air to gently remove any dust. Never rub or use water on the print.

Questions? I’d love to hear from you.

  • For each print illustration I have tried include some UK standard-size prints where I can as well as some prints that are the same proportion as the original painting to make the borders more even.

While the borders on the standard sizes may be uneven, keep in mind that standard-sized frames are often less expensive than custom frames. So a little extra white space may save you a bit of money on frames.

Custom-sized prints are also more expensive to create, so the standard-sized prints offer a more affordable print option as well.

  • Yes, there are UK standard-sized prints available for all or most print designs.

The sizes available vary depending on the print.

  • I really enjoy even borders on prints and I don’t think I’m alone in that, but it often makes the prints custom sizes. Custom-sized prints are more expensive to create.

I’ve also included some UK standard-sized prints. They are less expensive to create, but can create uneven white borders to avoid having cropping the illustration. So, since standard-sized prints are less expensive to create, they are cheaper per square centimetre than the custom-sized prints.

Original & Commissioned Artwork

  • Your watercolour painting is not varnished, and is, therefore, susceptible to smudging or fading if it comes in contact with moisture or prolonged sunlight.

While unframed, store artwork in an acid-free cellophane sleeve (as provided) and keep it away from direct sunlight and any moisture.

The oils from your skin can damage the paper and artwork over time, so only handle your artwork with clean, dry hands. Optionally, you can wear cotton gloves for handling the artwork to avoid any oils transferring to the paper.

I recommend that you frame your artwork. Frame it behind UV-protectant glass and hang out of direct sunlight for optimal longevity. Always use acid-free materials when framing or storing.

If necessary, you can use a dry, soft cloth or air to gently remove any dust. Never rub or use water on the painting.

Questions? I’d love to hear from you.

  • If you’re interested in enquiring about ordering a commission, I would love to hear from you!

Generally, we would discuss what you are interested in commissioning from me, including the subject, size, timeframe, and anything specific you’d like to include.

Prices depend on the specifics of the painting and I will share my price with you after we’ve decided on the details of the artwork.

Once we’ve sorted the details of the artwork and I’ve agreed to take on the commission, I will create a contract for you to sign just to make sure we’re both on the same page.

After that, I’ll ask for a 50% deposit and then I’ll get painting!

I like to send you updates as I go through the process and usually offer a couple opportunities for input or minor changes (watercolour has limits to what can be changed once it’s on the page).

Once the painting is completed and we’re both happy with it, I will ship it to you via courier. The price of this will usually be included in your painting price unless otherwise stated.

Feel free to get in touch if you still have questions or would like to enquire about commissioning and painting.

  • If an artwork that you would like to purchase is not listed for sale in my Shop, please get in touch to see if it is still available.
